“Before I Thought to Ask!”

Thoughts for Today:

Paul uses this expression a number of times in his letters: "I do not want you to be ignorant." He used it when speaking of:

Old Testament typology (identifying Scripture which is prophesy of a later event) -- 1 Corinthians 10:1: "For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea."

The coming of the Lord -- 1 Thessalonians 4:13: "Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope."

The tactics of Satan -- 2 Corinthians 2:11 (KJV): "Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices."

And the future of Israel -- Romans 11:25: "I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in."

Think about it: Aren't the areas Paul wanted believers to be knowledgeable about the same ones we have questions about today? Throughout history, Christians and non-Christians alike have wanted to know the answers to these questions. It gives me great peace to know our God inspired Paul to provide the answers before I even thought to ask!

Questions to Ponder:

What questions do you have that remain unanswered? Have you looked in God's Word? He alone provides the answers to our questions -- not the world. Will you seek His wisdom now?
